Dr. Anand Sharma, a radiation oncology specialist, defines how the Tomotherapy HI-ART system uses radiation, the overall effect is to protect the normal tissue, by only exposing it to a small dose of radiation, while the tumor receives a larger, potentially more effective dose. Tomotherapy is a relatively new radiation treatment and Hollings Cancer Center is 1 of 2 places that offer it in South Carolina.
